FISH RESTOCKING FOR PRESERVATION OF FISH RESOURCES
A sunny morning, a group of people gathered in a small river surrounded by rice fields in Bogempinggir village, Balongbendo sub-district, Sidoarjo regency. It turns out they will do a fish restocking. This activity was carried out by the Sidoarjo Regency Fisheries Service on 12 April 2019. According to Mrs. Ir. Tarina Handaningrum MM, head of Capture Fisheries from the Sidoarjo Regency Fisheries Service, the stocking of fish seeds was aimed at preserving fish resources and adding fish stocks to be harvested as consumption fish, of course to increase the economy of surrounding communities. 150 thousand fish stocked, including Tombro, Tawes (white bader), and Wader. Small rivers in the middle of rice fields were chosen to spread the seeds so that the development of fish could be good and the community could enjoy its economic benefits when large fish. The activity was attended by village heads, leaders, local farmers, and ECOTON FOUNDATION represented by Mr. Andreas.
On the occasion ECOTON proposed that some seeds be released at Brantas River. Assisted by local residents of our fish seeds off the Brantas River.
